Matt Farago is a multimedia professional base in Pittsburgh, PA with a vast range of experience including holding positions as a; sports announcer, content producer, voiceover artist, emcee, radio personality, marketing director, fundraiser, and a PR / communications specialist.
Farago spent four seasons as the in-game announcer for the world famous Harlem Globetrotters, announcing over 400 games in 24 countries along with every corner of the US and iconic arenas like Madison Square Garden and Staples Center (Now Crypto.com Arena). He also served as the team's emcee.
Currently, Farago serves as a as a play-by-play and public address announcer for various teams and networks. Matt is the PA voice of the Duquesne Dukes for both football and basketball. He also regularly announces for Geneva College (9 seasons), Our Lady of the Scared Heart High School (15 Seasons), and the Pittsburgh Passion Women's pro football team (10 seasons).
In 2021 Farago received the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award for broadcast excellence for his work announcing the WPIAL Football Championships on The Pickle 92.1FM, where he has been the voice of HS Football for 7 seasons.
Matt started announcing games in 2007 on community access TV, at just the age of 15. Then at 16, Farago started his own multimedia sports company called Champs Sports Network. The network covered the local high school and college teams. Champs also was a pipeline to up-and-coming broadcasters, current Steelers TV and radio analyst Charlie Batch called his first games on CSN. Other alumni included KDKA's Josh Taylor, ESPN Pittsburgh's Wes Uhler.
Matt attended Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center for high school before attending cyber school in order to pursue a job in 2008 as the Director of Media Relations with the West Virginia Lightning minor league football team in Charleston, WV.
In 2009 Farago returned to Pittsburgh to join ABC affiliate WTAE-TV as a high school sports reporter and then landed an opportunity with MaxPreps.com a division of CBS Sports as a regional reporter, there he worked as emcee for the National Guard "Tour of Champions" and covered teams in PA, Ohio, West Virginia, and New York.
In 2011, with a wealth of experience for just being out of high school, Farago put Champs on the back burner and accepted a full time position at USA TODAY as a Content Producer, he handled daily content updates for USAT national prep coverage, as well as social media responsibilities.
In 2012 Farago would return all of his attention to Champs and elevated the network from local to international - fostering a partnerships USA Football Jr. World Championships , the Aztec Bowl series between the US and Mexico, the All American Bowl college all-star game, as well as bolstering HS Football coverage online and on The CW - all of which he handled play-by-play duties for, but also sold sponsorships, and purchased air-time. He is believed to be the first to ever serve as executive director and lead talent on a sports cable TV broadcast in Pennsylvania (2013).
In 2013 Champs announced a partnership with Panera Bread and the "Panera Bread Bowl" High School Football Game of the Week which aired on Champs with Farago and then Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch calling the action, also working with former WVU quarterback Major Harris. The series had over 55,000 views online before picking up a TV deal for the playoffs on Pittsburgh CW. This spiked and incredible 3 year run for the network leading up to Matt closing operations for the Globetrotters in 2016.
In the wake of COVID-19 while many hunkered down, Matt took the newly created "Athletics Advancement & Communications" position at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School. During the 2020-21 school year Farago was in charge of streaming every athletic event both JV and Varsity, he gathered sponsorships and produced professional quality game broadcasts for Charger Athletics that racked up over 100,000 viewers as the only way fans could follow the schools first ever state championship. Farago also produced and hosted an 8 hour web-a-thon that helped rase over $122,000 for the school. He spearheaded the return of the schools Athletics Hall of Fame after a 5 year gap, organizing, producing and emceeing the event that raised money for the Athletic programs.
